xAPI (Experience API)
xAPI is a learning data standard that records a wide range of learning experiences, including offline and informal activity, as “statements.”
xAPI (the Experience API, also called Tin Can API) is a specification for capturing learning experiences as simple “actor–verb–object” statements, for example “Priya completed Fire Safety.” Unlike SCORM, xAPI can record learning that happens outside the LMS — on mobile, offline, in simulations or on the job.
xAPI statements are stored in a Learning Record Store (LRS), giving organizations a richer, more granular picture of how people actually learn and apply skills, not just whether they finished a course.
How xAPI works in Violetinfo.ai
Violetinfo.ai uses xAPI to capture learning across mobile, offline and frontline contexts, feeding richer analytics into VInsights and the competency framework.
